The Firm Directions of Good Fathers

Image
The Firm Directions of Good Fathers  The Good Parent Disciplines, and Gives Not Just General Rules, but Also Detailed Instructions. Back when was very bitter towards G-d, I wondered as Solomon did, why the wicked seem to get away with their evil, while the righteous often have tough times for years, or even perish. Particularly, why my Dad who was a drug addict and alcoholic lived on, while my mom, who drug us to Church, and didn't even so much as drink, curse, or smoke, was taken when I was 14. I didn't understand at the time that the Righteous perish to spare them the evilness of days ahead (Isaiah 57:1), and another Biblical principle. G-d loves His Children, therefore He gives them rules to live by and allows them to experience the natural consequences of breaking those Rules, as well as Spiritually Disciplining them (Deuteronomy 30). He even sends our older brothers and sisters such as David and Ruth to tell us about the goodness of living by the Father's R...

6 Flags Over Jesus

Image
6 Flags Over Jesus "I’m turning shepherds into sheep and leaders into celebrities it’s holy sabotage, just look around you ‘cause everything’s for sale in the 21st century and the check is in the mail from the 21st century" Have we built a "Six Flags Over Jesus", instead of a House of G-d? David Wilkerson's sermon "What Happened to Anguish in the Church?" http://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=27DIST8qO4I Welcome to the Church of the 21st Century. In my short time in the Church, I have seen the pulpit hijacked by all sorts of marketing ploys, political campaigns, wanna be Christian Rocks Stars, and Pastors hoping Oprah will interview them next. I myself have attended Churches for all the wrong reasons before, out of boredom, hunger on potluck nights, wanting to meet girls, I even tried to recruit someone for a multi-level marketing business at a Wednesday night Bible study once. So I dont' claim to be innocent of being part of the problem. We have...

The Madness of the Motions

Image
The Madness of the Motions "I Don't Want to Go Through The Motions I don’t wanna go one more day Without Your all consuming passion inside of me I don’t wanna spend my whole life asking What if I had given everything? Instead of going through the motions" Matthew West "The Motions" by Matthew West is one of my favorite songs, and the painting you see is one of my favorite paintings, it is from a Romantic Era painter named Casper David Friedrich. The title of the painting is "The Abbey" and you will notice that the Abbey is in a ruin, a graveyard in fact, but it has a few curious visitors. Yes there is a place where religion finally dies, and I shall rejoice when it does. Religion is going through the motions of knowing G-d, its like shaking hands and hugging a complete stranger on the street with a huge welcoming grin on your face and acting like you have known him since birth. Spirituality is the quiet comfort of not having to say a word th...

Diamonds In The Dark

Image
Diamonds in the Dark The History Channel has a series called "Life After People", the last episode examined the former German Diamond Mining town of Kolmanskop in Namibia, Africa which is in a desert wasteland. The town was chosen for filming "Life After People" because it was completly abandoned around the 1st World War and has been completely taken over by sand since then. The site was a diam ond mining town because of several factors. One factor was the very strong winds which actually blew diamonds in along with the sands of Namibia. These winds blew the diamonds all to one location. Another factor is the barrenness of the landscape. Namibia is also near a tectonic plate I believe, which would mean that instead of remaining coal, enough heat and pressure would combine to form diamonds. Diamonds are ofcourse, the hardest substance on earth and the only substance that can be used to drill under the ocean to deep buried oil deposits. Due to the lack of water ...

Two Houses in The Storm

Image
The Two Houses in the Storm We all remember the famous parable from Christ concerning the man who built his house on the sand. This parable has geographic applications for cities such as Amsterdam, Berlin, New York, New Orleans, and D.C., which were literally, built on sand, as oceans and swamps were drained to make them building sites. It also has national implications, such as a nation should b uild it Laws and values around G-d's Laws and values, not Church traditions, Enlightenment thinking, Roman Government, and Greek Philosophy. Finally, it has personal applications. When we look at two houses side by side, we cannot tell often which is built on sand and which is built on rock, at least not at a glance. Both houses would have to have support poles built deep into the sand. Under the surface however, we see the difference. The foolish man hit rock and just quit digging. He pulled some sand in around the support pillars to make it look secure and went on his way. T...

Broken By The Good Fight

Image
Broken By The Good Fight This is for someone in the Valley of Decision Tonight. Choosing to Wait it Out, Wrangle it Out, Or Walk Away.  It is better to be "Broken" by the Good Fight, than to be "Prosperous" from the Walking Away. Or to say another way.... True Shalom is found in Overcoming Suffering to continue the Mission, while Wordly "Happiness" is found in simply avoiding the Battles. One is "Soul Full" while the ot her is "Spirit Full", but they are often confused in the Churches. "A Knight Still in Shining Armor is a Man Who has yet to have His Metal Truly Tested" and who wants to be in the foxhole of the Holy Life WITH that guy? Who wants to be LED by that Guy? Who wants to BE that guy? Choose This Day whom you shall Become.

Dangers in Gathering Tares

Dangers in Gathering Tares The Danger in being a Truth seeker is the possibility of throwing the Wheat out with the Tares, as both Wheat and Tares have to reach a certain point in their Season (not ours) before you can clearly tell the Difference. Should be a Sobering thought when you Remember that the King of Kings owns the Field and we may have marked for the Fire, Seed that He planted Himself, all in our Pride and Impatience and demands for Conformity to our own Growth.
